ADULT EDUCATION
Adult Education is an essential part of a comprehensive Lifelong Learning framework, moving beyond the traditional concept of public education toward a more flexible, inclusive, and learner-centred approach. It aims to provide individuals with opportunities to continuously develop their knowledge, skills, and competences throughout different stages of life.
Adult Education programes focus on the development of the eight Key Competences for Lifelong Learning, in line with the European Reference Framework:
Literacy competence
Multilingual competence
Mathematical competence and competence in science, technology and engineering
Digital competence
Personal, social and learning-to-learn competence
Citizenship competence
Entrepreneurship competence
Cultural awareness and expression competence
Current priorities in Adult Education place particular emphasis on digital transformation, green skills, social inclusion, and equal access to learning opportunities. Special attention is given to supporting disadvantaged and underrepresented groups, including women, migrants, people with disabilities, and individuals facing social or economic barriers.
Through lifelong learning, Adult Education contributes not only to employability and professional development, but also to active citizenship, personal growth, social participation, and more inclusive and resilient communities.
