ERASMUS+ YOUTH EXCHANGE PROJECT

Empowering Young People to Become the Leaders of Tomorrow

Civic & Leadership Academy is an international Erasmus+ Youth Exchange organised by the Academy for Active Youth bringing together young people from Bulgaria, Romania, Greece and Türkiye.

The project took place from 18 to 28 May 2026 in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria, creating an international learning environment where participants explored leadership, active citizenship, democratic participation and intercultural cooperation.

Through non-formal education, interactive workshops, debates, simulations and creative challenges, participants strengthened their communication, critical thinking, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

The project encouraged young people to recognise their potential as active citizens, express their opinions confidently and take initiative in addressing challenges within their communities.

Our Main Objectives

The Civic & Leadership Academy aimed to empower young people by providing practical learning opportunities and encouraging their active involvement in society.

The project’s key objectives included:

Developing Leadership Skills: Strengthening confidence, decision-making, communication and the ability to inspire and cooperate with others.
Promoting Active Citizenship: Encouraging young people to understand their role in democratic societies and participate in civic initiatives.

Growing Together, Leading Change

Civic & Leadership Academy created opportunities for participants to develop valuable personal, social and civic competences through experiential learning.

Throughout the exchange, young people practised leadership, public speaking, teamwork, negotiation, critical thinking and creative problem-solving.

The activities also encouraged greater intercultural awareness, respect for different opinions and confidence in participating in discussions about important societal issues.

Through daily reflections and the Youthpass learning process, participants were encouraged to identify their achievements and recognise how their newly developed competences could be applied in education, employment, volunteering and community initiatives.

Beyond individual learning, the project promoted international cooperation and created opportunities for lasting friendships and future youth-led initiatives.

The central message of the project was simple: young people do not need to wait for the future to become leaders, they can start creating positive change today.
