Look At My Skills, Not At My Skin

DISCOVER EU

Beyond Stereotypes. Beyond Borders. Beyond Limits.
Through the Erasmus+ DiscoverEU Inclusion project “Look at My Skills, Not at My Skin,” ten young people with fewer opportunities, were given the opportunity to explore Europe, challenge stereotypes, discover their strengths, and build confidence in their future.
More than just a journey across borders, this project was a journey towards equality, empowerment, and new possibilities.

Beyond travelling, the project encouraged participants to step outside their comfort zones, strengthen their independence, develop essential life skills, and recognise their own potential. Each experience was designed to inspire greater self-confidence, intercultural understanding, and motivation for future educational and professional development.
The Erasmus+ DiscoverEU Inclusion project “Look at My Skills, Not at My Skin,” implemented by the Academy for Active Youth (AAYA), aims to break down barriers and challenge prejudice while creating meaningful opportunities for young Roma individuals facing social, economic, and educational disadvantages. Through two mobility experiences lasting 14 and 21 days, this project provided 10 youngsters aged 18–21, particularly those not in education, employment, or training (NEETs), the chance to explore Europe. Participants discovered new cultures, explored diverse European cities, and gained a deeper understanding of European values and active citizenship. This journey only broadened their horizons but also empowered them to develop essential life skills and strengthen their independence.
