First Step To EUROPE

Academy for Active Youth is part of the incredible small-scale KA2 Erasmus+ project "STEP."

Time flies very fast, and our three central project meetings happened.

During the active five days in Drama, we saw excellent practices of cooperation between the locals and the decision-makers. We were able to get to know and share experiences with numerous organizations in Drama.

We met a social enterprise in the town, providing a job to 7 youngsters with fewer opportunities. The enterprise was created by Dimitri, a man that got blind at the age of 30, and he started his social enterprise as a way of finding meaning in life by providing such to other people who need it the most. The social enterprise of Dimitri is an excellent example of how a person can be socially active and change the rural sphere and the lives of youngsters with disabilities by providing jobs, social surroundings, support, and education.

In Drama, we also saw the organization's excellent practices that support women in need by providing them with emergency support and a place to stay.

We met the detown's decision-makers in the city hall of Drama, and we badly discussed introducing more youngsters to the decision-making processes.

During the Youth Festival- Europe is Here - we met over 80 youngsters from different schools and classes, and we did workshops together; we exchanged ideas on European citizenship and ways for rural youth to feel more European and to benefit from the opportunities of the Erasmus+ program.

During the stated period, with the partner consortium, we exchanged numerous good cooperation practices to bring rural youth closer to Europe and introduce many youth newcomers to the Erasmus+ program.

After the meeting, we also took the time to inform some of our regular participants about future KA2 small-scale meetings and prepare them to join us.
